The [misnamed] One Big Beautiful Bill Act, also referred to as OBBBA or OBBB, is a proposed budget reconciliation bill in the 119th Congress of the United States. It will add about US$3.8 trillion to the federal government's debt over the next decade.
The defense portion of the bill will allocate an additional $150 billion in defense spending. The border security portion will allocate $70 billion for border security, creating the capacity to deport up to 1 million people each year. The healthcare portion will tighten eligibility for health and food programs for the poor and take several million people off Medicaid. The tax portion will extend corporate and individual tax cuts passed in 2017, cancel many green-energy incentives, and increase the state and local tax (SALT) deductions from $10,000 to $40,000, which will overwhelmingly benefit wealthier households.
Itpassed squeeked through the House of Representatives on May 22, 2025, in a 215–214–1 vote, largely along party lines.
