23-4-10 Leak Debate: Ukraine's Offensive Plans Real? - Matters > .

"For weeks, allegedly classified documents from various parts of the US government concerning the Russian war on Ukraine have been circulating on the internet. The "New York Times" was the first of now many media to report on these leaks—without publishing the documents themselves. Copies of these can still be found quite easily, for example on pro-Russian telegram channels. But beware, there are also obvious fake and manipulated versions going around. [Jake Teixeira, "OG", was arrested 23-4-13.] The US-Government is now scrambling to assess and contain the fallout from this leak, while the rest of the world is asking themselves the following questions."

23-4-6 Military analysts said the [leaked] "documents appear to have been modified in certain parts from their original format, overstating American estimates of Ukrainian war dead and understating estimates of Russian troops killed."

Modifications could point to a predictable "effort of disinformation by Moscow", analysts said. However, the "disclosures in the original documents, which appear as photographs of charts of anticipated weapons deliveries, troop and battalion strengths, and other plans, represent a significant breach of American intelligence in the effort to aid Ukraine."

The "documents do not provide specific battle plans", such as "how, when, and where Ukraine intends to launch its offensive, which American officials admit is likely coming in the next month or so. Because the documents are five weeks old, they offer a snapshot of time — the American and Ukrainian view, as of March 1, of what Ukrainian troops might need for the campaign."

*SDO = Social Dominance Orientation
Social dominance orientation (SDO) is a [disordered] personality trait measuring an individual's support for social hierarchy and the extent to which they desire their in-group be superior to out-groups. SDO is conceptualized under social dominance theory as a measure of individual differences in levels of group-based discrimination; that is, it is a measure of an individual's preference for hierarchy within any social system and the domination over lower-status groups. It is a predisposition toward anti-egalitarianism within and between groups.

Individuals who score high in SDO desire to maintain and, in many cases, increase the differences between social statuses of different groups, as well as individual group members. Typically, they are dominant, driven, tough, and seekers of power. People high in SDO also prefer hierarchical group orientations. Often, people who score high in SDO adhere strongly to belief in a "dog-eat-dog" world. It has also been found that men are generally higher than women in SDO measures. A study of undergraduates found that SDO does not [?] have a strong positive relationship with authoritarianism. Felicia Pratto and her colleagues have found evidence that a high social dominance orientation is strongly correlated with conservative political views, and opposition to programs and policies that aim to promote equality (such as affirmative action, laws advocating equal rights for homosexuals, women in combat, etc.).

China Initiative - Countering CCP's IP Theft ..
TTP - Thousand Talents Scam ..

The China Initiative was launched by the United States Department of Justice, the FBI, and other United States federal agencies in November 2018. It is led by the United States Department of Justice National Security Division, and has been described as a "sweeping effort" to counter Chinese espionage in American businesses and research by eliminating spies and halting the transfer of information and technology to China. In addition, the China Initiative focuses on safeguarding "critical infrastructure against external threats through foreign direct investment and supply chain compromises, as well as combatting covert efforts to influence the American public and policymakers without proper transparency." There is no definition of what a China Initiative case is. It has been criticized as being ineffective, racially biased, and disproportionate. Some of the cases under the initiative were based on false evidence by the FBI. The China Initiative's end was announced on 23 February 2022, citing perceptions of unfair treatment of Chinese Americans and residents of Chinese origin.

On 23 February 2022, the DOJ announced that it was ending the China Initiative, largely due to "perceptions that it unfairly painted Chinese Americans and U.S. residents of Chinese origin as disloyal." Assistant Attorney General for National Security Matthew Olsen stated that the decision was not the abandonment of law enforcement response to the threat posed by China but a reframing and recalibration. According to Olsen, the DOJ will continue to combat threats posed by the Chinese government. China Initiative cases typically involved lying or omitting information on disclosure forms. Some cases resulted in convictions such as with Charles Lieber, who was found guilty of making false statements to federal officials and filing false tax returns. However other cases have been reined in or abandoned, such as with Gang Chen, or defeated in trial in the case of Anming Hu. A review of existing cases was conducted and the DOJ is "comfortable with where those cases are."

CIA influence on public opinion: At various times, under its own initiative or in accordance with directives from the President of the United States or the National Security Council staff, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States has attempted to influence public opinion both domestically in the United States as well as abroad.

Propaganda in the United States is spread by both government and media entities. Propaganda is information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely to influence opinions, usually to preserve the self-interest of a nation. It is used in advertising, radio, newspaper, posters, books, television and other media and may provide either factual or non-factual information to its audiences.

The Committee on Public Information (1917–1919), also known as the CPI or the Creel Committee, was an independent agency of the government of the United States under the Wilson administration created to influence public opinion to support the US in World War I, in particular, the US home front.

In just over 26 months, from April 14, 1917, to June 30, 1919, it used every medium available to create enthusiasm for the war effort and to enlist public support against the foreign and perceived domestic attempts to stop America's participation in the war. It is a notable example of propaganda in the United States.

WW2: Office of War Information, Why We Fight, and American propaganda during WW2 .

During WW2, the United States officially had no propaganda, but the Roosevelt government used means to circumvent this official line. One such propaganda tool was the publicly owned but government-funded Writers' War Board (WWB). The activities of the WWB were so extensive that it has been called the "greatest propaganda machine in history"Why We Fight is a famous series of US government propaganda films made to justify US involvement in World War II. Response to the use of propaganda in the United States was mixed, as attempts by the government to release propaganda during World War I was perceived negatively by the American public. The government did not initially use propaganda but was ultimately persuaded by businesses and media, which saw its use as informational. Cultural and racial stereotypes were used in WW2 propaganda to encourage the perception of the Japanese people and government as a "ruthless and animalistic enemy that needed to be defeated", leading to many Americans seeing all Japanese people in a negative light.

Many people of Japanese ancestry, most of whom were American citizens, were forcibly rounded up and placed in internment camps in the early 1940s.

From 1944 to 1948, prominent US policy makers promoted a domestic propaganda campaign aimed at convincing the U.S. public to agree to a harsh peace for the German people, for example by removing the common view of the German people and the Nazi Party as separate entities. The core of this campaign was the Writers' War Board, which was closely associated with the Roosevelt administration.

Another means was the United States Office of War Information that Roosevelt established in June 1942, whose mandate was to promote understanding of the war policies under the director Elmer Davis. It dealt with posters, press, movies, exhibitions, and produced often slanted material conforming to US wartime purposes.

Other large and influential non-governmental organizations during the war and immediate post-war period were the Society for the Prevention of World War III and the Council on Books in Wartime.

COINTELPRO: Propaganda during the Cold War was at its peak in the 1950s and 1960s in the early years of the Cold War. The United States would make propaganda that criticized and belittled the enemy, the Soviet Union. The American government dispersed propaganda through movies, television, music, literature and art. The United States officials did not call it propaganda, maintaining they were portraying accurate information about Russia and their Communist way of life during the 1950s and 1960s.
Television promoted conservative family values and the supposed greatness of America and capitalistic values of life. One of the TV shows at the time that played a role in spreading propaganda was called The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. The show portrayed a typical American family and was meant to show the world the superiority of American life. ... American childhood-education propaganda took the form of videos children watched in school; one such video is called How to Spot a Communist.
