Senator Jim Molan, AO, DSC, a former Major-General in the Australian Army is currently Senator for New South Wales in the Australian Senate. Jim Molan's military service included a broad range of command and staff appointments in operations, training, staff, and military diplomacy. His career saw him deployed to Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, East Timor, Malaysia, Germany, the US, and Iraq, where he served as Chief of Operations for Coalition forces in 2004. He is an accomplished infantryman, Indonesian speaker, and helicopter pilot.
